my dad is looking into getting a used utility. he will use it for hunting and trail riding. he is about 5'9. it does not have to be 4x4 but that is a big plus. it has to be at least a 250cc. what should he get?

well i kinda need a little more info. is he going to ride it for fun? is it going to be used for work? what part of the country do you live in, like what kind of condition are the trails in? 5'9 and __ pounds? theres actually quite a few options out there. i havent ridden either but theres some pretty good bikes from yamaha and kawasaki in that market. i can tell you more whan i find out exactly what youre looking for. you might try a general search of bikes at atvtraderonline.com. if you need anything else just ask.

he is about 200 lbs. he will use it mostly for fun on small mountain trails(the appalachians).he will also use it to hunt in the same area.we live in PA about an hour north of philadelphia and about an hour south of the pocono mountains(in the appalachians).

The wolverine is a good choice, small,can be used for just about anything-sport/work/hunting.user friendly for the first atv. I'm biased of course, have a good one.

he CAN spend about 4000 but wants to spend about 2500

what about transmission? there arent any fully manual 4x4s out there that i know of, but he still has the choice between a fully automatic or a manual shift (auto clutch) or even an electric shift (hondas ESP thing on some of their newer bikes). i think a wolverine would be a good bike, the only thing is, its a full time 4wd. which isnt bad, but its usually better to have it changable, so you can drive around in 2 and if you get stuck, put it in 4 and pull yourself out, cause if you get stuck in 4, youre kinda s.o.l. but if its meant for mainly fun, the wolverine is definately a good choice, its probably the most fun, sporty 4x4 there is. so why dont you talk to him and try to find out some of the little details and we'll see what fits the bill.

It really depends on what is available in your area. Search the local classified sections and you could probably get a Paper Shop in your area. A few to watch out for would be the little older Trx 300 4x4, Suzuki Quadrunner 250 4x4, Suzuki King Quad 300 4x4, Timberwolf 250 4x4, Wolverine 4x4, or newer 2 wheel drives like the *Recon 250, Timberwolf 250 same as Beartracker 250. I didn't mention quads like the Ozark because I was aiming more for the $2500. price. You can go to Paper Shop and do a search.

i know this is off topic but what is a cdi ignition?

CDI stands for "capacitor discharge ignition". It generates power from the magneto system and doesn't need a battery. (But it does power lighting or battery charging.)
