I am looking at a 1994 Mojave that was formerly a XC racer. It is pretty trick w/ beadlocks, Maier racing plastic, nerfs, XC grab bar, and a PRM Products front bumper. The motor has been bored and stroked to a 360, and this is the area of the bike that concerns me. I was wondering if anybody had any knowledge or experience with such a kit. My ATC is very trusty, and I don't want to get rid of it for an unreliable bike. Thanks for your time.

Upon reading my post, I left out some important information. I checked the bike all over pretty good looking for weak spots, welds, and other little goodies associated with race bikes--It's actually very clean. The motor seems to have good compression and does not smoke a bit, but it does cut a slight bit on the top. My local dealer is going through the bike and doing vital tests and is going to try and straighten out the carb situation. I just want to be sure that a kit such as this one won't be a constant headache and I would also like some input as to the power I could expect from this bike. Oh, and by the way, it has Works triple rates on the front and Works Duracross on the back.

That sounds like a pretty nice setup. As far as the 360 kit is concerned, I have no personal experience, but I have heard things about certain methods that some engine builders will use to achieve say, 360cc's of displacement. My question would be who bored/stroked it? Is it possible to find out even? If you can't find that out, I doubt they will tear the top end off so you can inspect the engine work yourself. So at that point it sounds like somehat of a gamble, one thing to remember is Team Kawasaki runs a Mojave 410 built off the same 250cc original engine. Also noting the pristine condition you say the bike is in, the engine should be in pretty much the same condition- I doubt someone would dump that much money into an ATV if the engine work they had done made it unridable.

A couple months ago there was an article on a mojave 360. The guy said it was a great bike and could smoke banshee's and probably your 250r so if every thing is good with the mojave buy it.

Derek, as someone has suggested already, I'd find out who did the engine work, and depending on their track record, it could be a good mod or questionable. If that info still has you interested, check with Kelly blue book to see what the machine is worth with those mods. www.kbb.com
Didn't see a mention of price, but if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
Let the buyer beware.
