My son will be 6 in November. He has just started riding a friends 50cc quad. Prior to this he rode with his mother or I. My question is whether I should buy him a 50cc or 80cc quad (with a throttle limiter)? He his a big kid - around 65 lbs and is cautious. Thanks for any advice.

I Know that my cousins are right around that age and they just got a little trx90. Man it's a cool little four wheeler that has alot of room for them to grow, from what i've seen alot of the 50cc and 80cc bikes are so small that they quickly get to big to ride them. I know that they do great on the trx90 and won't out grow it as fast. Hope this helps.

thing to control his speed. Last time out
I went toadjust it and found that it was
all the way out. I have just recently been
looking around at what's out there and
also watching what other people's kids are
riding. I have seen some TRX90's but mostly
Suzuki LT80's. Both have throttle control &
keys for safety. LT80 has electric start
and an auto tranny (gas & go), while the TRX
has better suspension and a pull start. Based
on what I've seen and my riding environment
(sand dunes) I prefer the LT80 (this from a
guy that wordships Honda's).

Check out the Impuls 50, I bought one for my son back in March. He just turned 7yrs old and it fits him good, You don't want to get one thats too big for him he may not be able to handle it and get hurt. The Impuls has a throttle limiter plus it has electric start. I checked them all them out new and used before I purchased one and liked this one the best, its well built and the price was right $1600 out the door. The best thing to do is take him along and see what fits him the best with a little room to grow into. goodluck

We bought our 8 & 6 year old daughters a used Yamaha Badger. It has been a great little rig. We have not had any problem with it. Neither of the girls are very big, but it fits them just fine and it will fit them for quite awhile. It has a 3-speed transmission. I like the idea of them learning how to shift. The next bigger Yamaha is the Breeze, and it has a automatic v-belt tranny. I took that one for a ride at a dealer, and although I'm sure its a good rig, I didn't care for that type of transmission. Also there is no foot brake on the Breeze, (which I found odd) only hand brakes. The Honda trx90 is also a great little rig (almost indestructible).
