Best sport ATV for $2500?
I make very good money and I just got a huge xmas bonus. I worked my ass off all year and the wife is only going to let me spend $2500 on an ATV. I know what some of you guys are thinking, but I did just buy a third house and maybe I shouldn't go blowing all my money on a new quad. So I understand her reason and without her I'd be in crazy fiscal shape.
I don't need the fasted quad, but something I can go riding trails or dunes on with my friends. They have a Z400, raptor and 400ex. I was thinking along the lines of a 250 or 500 quadracer. There seems to be a lot to choose from or a Honda 250r, but they are more expensive and harder to find. Any other suggestions? I appreciate your help. |

If your looking at older atvs I would sugest that you look at the Kawasaki Tecate. That is the fastest 250cc. My friend had one and it was a good overall atv. He drove it in trails, some offroad, and just opening it up on a straight away.

i would look at newer quads, but there doesn't seem to be much in the $2500 price range. If there is a newer quad in that range that will keep up with my buddies, I'd like suggestions.

Get a used atv. I see some used 400ex go for like 2300 on ebay. You can get a nice yamaha blaster but it might be too small.

If you can come up with another $500, you can easily pick up a 400EX(used) |

if u stretch out, and get a used 400ex, youll hang with them, and will probably end up dumping twice that into an older atv, in a year or so,

Forget about the quad, buy a new wife. Then everything else will fall in place.

That's exactly how I ended up with a Warrior.
The wife said I had between 2500-3000. I was leaning towards a 400ex but the lack of reverse was too annoying an idea. I ride a lot of tight woods and scary terrain and reverse is very nice. The Warrior fits well between the trees, and has just enough suspension to slam into a vertical creek crossing wall and enough power on tap to pull you up any bank or hill. I ride with a lot of much bigger machines cc-wise and I can run with them on most terrain. Obviously if you are looking to ride dunes or drags or even MX, a Warrior will not be your best choice. The best part is they are tough as nails, easy to maintain and cheap on the wallet. |
