Default Horsepower ratings? Z400, 400EX & Raptor 350

I'm also looking at quads for my wife. She's an experienced rider but doesn't like my Raptor 660 (too much power, weight etc.). She's looking at the Honda 400EX, Raptor 350 and leaning towards the Suzuki Z400. The Z400 looks like the better machine all around. I'm a little concerned about the high (11.3) compression ratio. Does it need high octane fuel? Mostly I would like to see some horsepower ratings on all of these machines. Has anyone done a review? Thanks.

I've ran all the different octanes in my Z and haven't had any problems with the lower octanes. As for the power #'s it depends on who's dyno you use. I've heard from 28-31 on the Z...........

The Z edges the Honda on power and has liquid cooling, but the EX is a good reliable "proven" quad. Can't go wrong with either.

Don't really think the raptor is in the same class. jmo.

The Warrior/Raptor 350 has about 18 hp, the 400ex is around 26/27ish hp and the Z400 would probably be a little more than the 400ex.

The raptor isnt anywhere near the z\kfx400 class. The KFX is an amazing model and id defintally go with that out of the bunch. The honda is fun but just a little out dated

The new shocks are pictured on the 2005 KFX 400 on the Kawa site. I'm not sure about the other changes.

The AC 400 doesn't show the new shocks in their 2005 picture. They may be using an older picture.

I like the kfx 400 in orange. If you buy a Z400, kfx or AC, that gives you more dealers to get prices from for the same product. If you buy a Honda, you can only deal with Honda dealers. More dealers = a better price. Hopefully.

I guess I'll mention that I would buy a KFX 400 at this time. I've have considered buying another sport quad for a long time now. I'm gradually coming closer to buying a KFX 400. (in orange) Originally, I was considering the 400ex because of it's new reverse gear and reliability. The higher retail price of the 400ex and the changes to the Z/KFX/AC kinda changed things a little bit.

Although, I would be open to owning a 400ex if Honda gave me one. . Then I would be riding and replying all the time about the 400ex (instead of the kfx) on all the forums that I am a member of. HINT. HINT. I am a member of 10+ atv forums at this time.

i just bought a 05 Z and it has the same upgrades. I dont see how anyone cold justify paying the same price for a 400ex as a KFX400, when obviousl;y the FFX is the superior model
