The decieding factor between these two machines might be your size. The z400 is sometimes to small for bigger riders. The rappy allows room for a bigger rider to feel a little more comfortable. Both are going to be great trail quads and live up to what you want it to do. The only negative I have heard about the Z's and I dont know if this is true, but I have heard people complain about the frames not being tough enough for what they put them through. Again I'am only going off what I have heard and cant say its fact. Others may have an idea as to if this is true. You said negative to the polaris pred, so that leaves the 450 line, and the bombardier ds650. I dunno much about them and my opinion towards them is biased against them, so I cant help there. IMO I say if your a larger guy go for the Raptor, if your a smaller frame, still go for the Raptor You will not be disapointed by this machine. Can you tell I'am a Raptor fan? Honestly go sit on both of them, that may make up your mind right there on the spot.

Default Utility or Sport??

someone correct me wrong but 04 and up z400's have stronger frames???? my buddy has an 03 and said the only difference between his 03 and the my other buddies 04 is a stronger frame. He said his frame is know to be "weak" Again please correct me If I'm wrong.
Now back to your decision, I've ridden the Z400 and i am a proud owner of a raptor 660. The Z400 is a beautiful machine and you will fit fine. (im bout 240-250 and 5'10). I chose the raptor over the two quads hoping the 660 would help me keep up with my buddies z400 (he is about 100lbs lighter And I more the keep up with him, he may take mine off the line but I'll smoke him in the upper gears....
I figured with my weight no matter what quad I bought he would always be faster but last night we were on some snow and in 3rd gear side by side and got on his, banged 4th then 5th. When he hit fifth I had just shifted into 4th.....GOODBYE. That was the end of that one....Now we weren't drag racing on dry pavement in ideal conditions (snow) BUT I believe the power difference was obvious. You will learn to love and respect the 660's power very quickly G/L with whatever atv you purchase.
