Default Buying my first quad. Can't decide Polaris 500efi or cat 500

The cat seems to have more power and faster acceleration But the Polaris rides better and runs smoother. The cat rides higher and seems top heavy. The Polaris handles the turns better. I can't decide. This is alot of money for me and I want to make a good choice. Any advice would be great.

I will tell you to get the cat, and someone who has a polaris will tell you to get one of those. What type of riding, and what will your primary use for it be?

I will be mostly trail riding in the mountains. Alot of rocks and tree roots in the trails. Also deep creek crossings. Another thing to think of is warranty. The polaris is 6 months and the cat is 3 years.

I would get the Cat, it has the highest ground clearance for rocks, a differential lock, and like said, a 3 yr warranty.

You can't go wrong either way from what I've read about the Cats, but I love my Po. If your going to be in the mountains don't forget about the EFI. The differential lock on the Cat has no advantage over the AWD of the Po. The 3 year warranty is a great feature for the Cat. Tough one, I'd have to say go with the DEALER you like more, I've read more horror stories about dealers than actual quads, good luck.

I think the diff lock has a slight advantage, not saying AWD is bad, but with the locker, they are all locked in before a tire has to spin

if your worried about the handling on the turns put a pair of good 6 ply tires on the cat and there won't be as much body roll. the sidewalls on the stock tires are too soft. and it seems to me that at slower speeds the polaris rides better and at higher speeds the cat rides better in my book anyways.

I'd go with the Arctic Cat. The only problem you may have is that it's a huge quad...bigger than my dad's 650 in overall size.
