Or step up and buy a 400 class sport quad. I see a lot of people claim they just want to tool around, but once you realize how fun and capable these things are, you will start to push the machine. This is precisely the time when the off brands will leave you hanging. You don't have to limit yourself to the Honda models listed above either, Suzuki, Yamaha, and Kawie all have made decent smaller/mid bore offerings that are hard to go wrong with when properly maintained.

And lets not forget the AC lineup

I am one of the first ones to give AC props where they deserve them, but I am going to lean with reconranger here. This person doesn't need a big heavy ute, he needs a dependable and nimble smaller offering. The DVX 250 is OK, but I think there are better options.

Wow 11 posts later and I'm still right.

Buy a used 400EX and be happy forever.

Start in the local paper or local eBay listings. No reason to buy new -- you can find some pretty low hours quads out there for much less than new and they are going to be as good as new.

I assume budget means used? If reverse is a must, then make sure an EX is a 2005 or later or look for a Z/KFX 400 or Raptor 660 or Predator 500.

Any of which would be a lot of fun.

Thanks for the informative reply. Trust me, I don't think I will be pusing the machine to max anytime.

I think the utility atv is what will suit me best. Thanks to everyone for the models and brands, I will look into this and get back to you guys and let you know what I end up getting.

Thanks again.

You would be best off testing some machines to find out if you like the utility better or the sport atv. Also you will want more from your qaud as time goes on so dont buy to small an atv or under powered as you will get bored quick with it. I would go with the 400ex for sport or a kawasaki bayou for utility. Both are excellent quads that are very reliable.
