Honda TRX300EX or Yamaha Raptor 250?
I have had a 2002 yamaha raptor 80 since the beginning of 2002. I am 14 years old, 5'3'' and about 110 pounds. I have experience with ATV's. I'm looking into buying a new ATV and am wondering what to get. I am trying to decide between the 2007 or 2008 Honda TRX300EX and the 2008 Yamaha Raptor 250.
Can somebody explain to me why most ATV's don't have reverse and how they deal with not having reverse on there quads, is there any benefit to not having reverse?
Does the new Raptor 250 have reverse?
What is the difference between the 2007 Honda TRX300EX and the 2008 Honda TRX300EX?
07-08 Honda TRX300EX or 08 Yamaha Raptor 250?
Have they changed the reverse at all on the 350?
That is all for now, Thank you!

Remember that nobody has ridden the 250 yet, so it is an abolute unknown at this time. So, if you run down to your dealer and put in a deposit, you are taking your chances. On paper, it looks like a great choice for someone your size and weight...but keep in mind that you will probably grow and it might make sense to get a quad you can grow into....rather than one you will quickly grow out of.
The 300EX is a dead solid reliable, and was proving that when you were still in diapers. But it is considerably heavier than the new 250, so that is a huge factor in my mind. The difference between the older 300 and the new ones 07/08) is a change in body style and the reverse mechanism.

Tough call, the 300EX has been around for a while and is a given. Yamaha has been releasing quality atv's recently, even first year models. The only SERIOUS first year Yamaha problem I can think of was the '01 660 Raptor tranny. Check the Yamaha site, I don't believe the new Raptor has reverse. Good luck either way. If you don't need reverse, I would give the Yamaha a try personally.

I'd like to see if we could test drive these two sometime.
1.) How do you guys go without reverse on your ATV's? Isn't that a pain? Why is it that alot of ATV's don't have reverse?
2.) When do the 2008 Honda's and the 2008 Yamaha's come out in stores?
Thank you

I deal with no reverse by putting it in neutral, walking to the front of the quad, and pushing it backward! Reverse is a necessity in a utility quad, but in a light sport quad it is just a nice luxury. I have three quads that don't have it...and it's no big deal........
