Default New quad soon..

I am a big trail rider, but I like going fast on the straights. I have a 250 now, so I thought instead of getting another 250, go for a 350? My question is, though how does the 250 compare to the 350, speed wise?

Thanks for all the help guys, I think its just between the raptor 250 and 350 lol

if you like racing the 400ex is a good choice lots of aftermarket stuff for them. the 300ex not a bad quad either.

Its not so much racing, but when i am in trails that have a bit of open area, i go fast, and like to go over small jumps, so its between the 350 and 250 raptor, I will have to see which one is more available on the time i sell my quad..

Can anyone suggest another place other than ebay that will help me sell my quad?

I think I can offer you some insight to help you out and I'm probably going to sound like reconranger in a way....

Myself, I'm well over twice your age and I have owned and also raced many sport quads since back in the 80's.... I've owned/raced...

Honda TRX250R's
Honda TRX250X
Honda TRX300EX
Kawi Tecate 4
Kawi Majove 250
Kawi Lakota 300
Suzuki Quadsport LT250S
Suzuki QuadRacer LT250R
Suzuki Quadzilla LT500R
Yamaha YFS200 Blaster
Yamaha YFM350X Warrior
Yamaha YFM350X Warrior (highly modded)
Yamaha YFZ350 Banshee
Yamaha YFZ450

Now, let me restate that I am more than twice your age.
But can I make a confession to you???
The guys are going to laugh... but I hit my Yamaha dealer last week... looking for a Raptor 250.

Now I am going to address your 250-to-250 concerns while explaining why I went to look at one.

You gotta understand... right now you are riding a large ATV.
A 460-some pound (DRY) hunk of ATV, powered by a plain piston port 2 stroke and PVT.

Going to a Raptor 250, you get a smaller ATV with a 250cc 4 stroke based on a trick bike engine and driven by a fully manual 5 speed. Plus this joker only weighs 313 pounds.

I mean I'm enthused about this... because I'm over drag racing everything... and I'm over having the fastest top speed. Instead I want something light and quick that I can flick around at will. I haven't seen or rode it yet, but I'm guessing it is all these things.

I really think you'd be floored at the difference of going from a low-tech automatic tank to a higher tech 5 speed manual that weighs 150 lbs less. I mean that's like loosing a passenger off the bike.

But anyways, here is my top list of readily available sport trail quads.

Z400/KFX400/DVX400
TRX400EX
TRX300EX
Mojave 250
Lakota 300
Raptor 350
Warrior 350
Raptor 250
Blaster 200

I'm also like the other guys here. I'm no longer all that impressed by the Warrior 350 and Raptor 350. It was impressive when it came out in 1987... but now it is 2007... 20 years later. But that also goes to show it's time-proven. So it's a great ride for what it is. It's sure no 400... and it doesn't feel or handle quite as good as some of the smaller models. It's kind of there in the middle in a class of it's own.

Which one should a 14 year old get?

Everyone will tell you to get the Z400 without question.

Be careful on it.

Is it hard for tight trails and such? Does the power band hit hard?

I was riding a polaris when I was 14 and I have to say I jumped up to a tricked out KFX 700 from that but I weighed 210 at the time so I could handle 65 ponies but the thing was just to heavy for me since I injured my shoulder. Now I am lookin at a cannondale or a gasgas 300 but for you go with a kfx/z/dvx400 you cannot go wrong its liquid cooled proven in racing trail and just about everything else get a 04 or newer if you can (I have seen them for 3500 pretty regularly) its frame is gusseted and you will not outgrow it for a very long time maybe ever if you big bore it. Its a better investment get one and enjoy!

Judging from his signature.... I'd say he already spent his money on a Raptor 350....
