You cant go wrong with a honda. Its been proven over and over that they r the best. 4x4 r not built for speed but r for work play and any other thing you need a tank for. For what you want it for I would say the honda is best. Even being older it would still last longer and out perform the yammy. Iv had them all well in dirtbikes but the hondas never failed. This is my first 4x4 and I went with the honda 420 and so far nothing but good has came from it. Good luck and have fun

These are 2WDs, not 4WDs... went with the Yamaha... it is 6 years newer, and I practically stole it. I figure it would have to be faster than the honda, because it is lighter, and an automatic... no let up to shift.

CTate, was wandering, if you do not mind my asking... how much did the performance parts cost you? Did you do the work yourself? Thanks...

A manual will take an automatic in a drag race (same machines with different transmissions). Automatic trannys allow more power loss in the drivetrain than a manual.

not necessarily, I have seen more than one auto beat a manual trans(a lot comes down to the operator)

I agree, if the operator doesn't know how to operate the vehicle to it's maximum ability, the outcome will be skewed. But, if you compare 0-60 times of cars, the manual will be faster than the auto 99% of the time. The only exception that I know of is the automatic Corvette runs a faster 1/4 mile than the 6-speed because the tranny is state-of-the-art. But why would you want an auto Corvette? Kinda defeats the purpose of a sports car. But there's no way that a CVT can match the efficiency of a manual auto-clutch. I'm not being biased either, my quad has a CVT.

Auto trannies are for little girls and adults that aren't skilled enough to shift a manual! Yamaha chose to cut the ***** off the old Wolverine in a number of ways, in an attempt to appeal to a wider "dummbed down" marketplace.

well the wolverine 450 is a true 421 cc but it is called by the manufacturer a 450, but that is how most dealers do things they always bump it up to the next level because how cool would a 399ex sound or a wolverine 421 etc etc.....

Auto trannies are not for little girls and adults that arent skilled enough to shift a manual. I ride both street bikes, semi auto atvs, manual atvs and own the new wolvey 450. It depends on what and where you are riding. I would never buy an auto streetbike. I did buy the new wolvy because it is a good quad, rides great compared to anything else I have owned and its a lot of fun.

Dude, who pissed in your cornflakes. I am not a dummed down rider. And yes, a manual would have been fun to have... this quad is for me and wife to ride around on... I bought this with a specific budget, being as Santa Claus is bringing a Raptor 80 and a Predator 90 to put under the tree this year... Give me a little while... there will be a little something else in the garage, and I don't know too many "reds" that will want some of it...

Tried to quote reconranger... this reply is for him.
