YFZ450 or TRX450r?
A little more info on how and where you ride would be helpfull.
Personally, I might pick the YFZ for MX, track, and play riding. For serious cross-country, absolutely the 450R. They both like to rev and don't like to go slow, so I don't really like either one for very tight or technical trail riding.
As for reliablity, the 450R is the king of desert endurance racing. Stuff like Baja and Vegas to Reno. If you aren't on the Honda, chances are you won't even finish....much less win. Even the privateers (who aren't sponsored by any manufacturer), pick the Honda. That says all I would ever need to know.........

The better rider will usually win regardless of type of quad in the 450 class. Nonetheless, the Yamaha itself should have a performance advantage over the Honda.
Honda has a reputation of being very reliable. I have had zero problems with my new YFZ450 either, and it gets between 30 and 55 feet of air dozens of times every weekend. I don't think you can go wrong with either choice.
Kawasaki, KTM, Polaris, Suzuki, and Can-Am all have their own 450s now as well. It's an exciting time for this class of sport quad.

very true klier. so meny great quads to pick from. so far as yfz450 vs trx450r the yfz450 will be a little better on the track i think but the 450r will do better on the trails. the 450r will be more reliable but if you do regular maintanince both will be reliable bikes. if i where you i whould go with the one you can get a better deal on.
