03 Bayou 250 v. 91 Blaster - Please help.
I am looking at purchasing either an 03 Bayou or a 91 Blaster. The 03 bayou would help me get my wife involved as she cannot grasp how to clutch but the atv is not in great condition. frame and exhasut are rusted, engine makes a tick and headlight is broken. Owner's kids rode it and he says that the tick has been there since new. Sounds like a valve adjustment to me, at the least. On the other hand the 91 Blaster is pristine, big bore kit, ported and polished, aftermarket exhaust and reeds, etc., but this would mean that I give up on getting my wife involved. They are asking 950 for the Bayou and the Blaster is at 750. Please give me some advice on which way to go with this decision.
THANKS TO ALL.

Well, with a little practice everyone can learn a clutch. My girlfriend had never used a clutch ATV before and she was perfect on my clutched 230S the first time out. I was pretty darn impressed.
The Bayou must be an auto? Aren't they usually 5-speed auto clutches? Not too much more work to learn a clutch!
And if the guy says the engine tick has been there since new he's lying so I would stay away from him. Who knows what else is wrong!
Or you could just ask her what she wants you to do!

I have owned both and my x wife has ridden both. The blaster was by far the more fun of the two. It took her about 10 min to figure out the clutch. It rides better also. And most anyone will tell you , if the ride is rough, most women new to riding will not like it. As for the bayou, the biggest piece of junk I have owned. I had oil leak probloms from 6 months out. Replace the gasket on the left side engine cover 3 times in the 1st 18 months of owning it. Traded it in . Just my 2 cents
