Nothing "all-around" about the shee. It is thrilling when ridden in a straight line, but that frame is three generations outdated, and was never that good to begin with....

The 400EX isn't any screaming machine. It is at its best on very tight trails where one can take advantage of the fact that the engine does not mind being lugged down.

Other good trail machines are the Suzuki Z400 and Yamaha Raptor 700. Then there is the screaming 450 class, which are a step up from the trail quads.

Ohh and by the way the trails that I ride are pretty much only straight lines with a couple of long turns.

Again....I have 20 buddies who were diehard Shee guys back in the day (mostly duners), and not one of them is riding a Shee now. Everyone is now on a 450 class 4-stroke. The Shees day has come and gone, but if going back in time is what you like.....

Look for any 450 (probably the Honda 450R or Yamaha YFZ450 you could find cheapest) or a Yamaha Raptor 700. Both are fast in a straight line.

Any 450 will 100% outhandle the Raptor 700, but if there aren't many turns then it shouldn't be a problem.
