Question New sport quad

Hey guys possibly looking to get another quad. I have a kodiak 450 with mudbugs and all and a 94 fourtrax 300 4x4. I'm lookin to get a sport quad and then im done! hah I decided between 2 which are very different but i want to see what you guys think. First im about 5'7' and 155lbs so here it goes.

2002 and up Honda 400ex

or a 2006 and up Raptor 700FI

I ride at around 800Ft above see level if that matters?

I know these 2 are really different but to me they seem the best.

It will be ridden mostly on just dirt trails and some long fields.

Let me know everybody or let me know on some other suggestions?

Thanks

they are both good choices for various reasons, but I would pick the Raptor....700 ccs of fuel injected fury, and a reverse to boot!

ya it does have some nice features! Is it to big for a small person like me? I've heard alot of people says its usually better for taller and heavier guys? let me know!

And mainly what it comes down to is I can get a mint 2006-2007 400ex in my area for around $2800-3K but a raptor 700 around 06 starts out around $3700. Or there's plenty of nice condition 02-04 400ex's that I've seen around$1800-$2300...

I own a 660 raptor (which actually sits a little higher), and i'm 5'9 150lbs, don't feel small on it in the least. Love the 400ex's, but if money isn't an issue 700 raptor in a heart beat. FI, reverse (newer ex's have reverse, tho), liquid cooling, and most importantly the power. Power wise there is no comparison.

You really can't go wrong either way, but unless you are wanting to save your money, go raptor.

These are both great choices. Another would be the Suzuki Z400. It has DOHC, liquid cooling and reverse. Faster than the 400ex, slower than the raptor. Great trail machines, and great machines in general.

ya Robb I have seen them before they look really nice. Is there any years I should stay away from I found a Mint condition 2004 LTZ400 yellow with Nerf bars and they upgraded the tires to all Holeshots it looks wicked clean! here is the link 2004 Suzuki LTZ 400 Z400 ATV with Reverse what do you think? and man i am a die hard Honda fan it seems like whatever I chose ill say "but the other one had this or that"

Raptor has FI and its a beast with liquid cooling but Honda is very simple and reliable and Suzuki i don't know too much about but i had a Quad sport 230 1985 and that thing ran awesome when i sold it 4 years ago. the ltz400 seems reliable and also has liquid cooling...

still undecided anyone have any suggestions.. or should i get whatever i find the best deal on in the best condition at the time?

Unlike Dan, Im an all-out yamaha fan. the raptor has been out for many years, so it is also very reliable like the 400ex. The raptor is everything that the 400ex is, and much more!

Kevin that is a good point that is why i am so undecided i say all of these 3 quads have their pros and cons yet all of them seem reliable and good. I'm still not sure what one is right for me... i saw some of the Z400's have some frame problems and maybe the raptors are a little too expensive yet that FI is so nice and the Z does seem snappy...

yet again mos of the riding will be tight trails with some open fields and small hills here and there...

well keep em comin!

I would go with the 400ex. I have one and love it. I ride with 450r's and raptors and would not trade my honda for anything. It is just plain fun as hell to ride. U can go slow when riding with kids or you can crank it up and run with anything though the woods. good luck
