Default Looking for input on what model 2x4 quad to buy

Ok so my cousin wants me to find him a 2 wheel drive utility quad, must have racks, 2 wheel drive, full footwells and automatic. This is for his daughter(13) and his stepson(15) to ride. I've mainly owned sportsmans so I'm not too familiar with what brands and models have automatic. Not interested in electronic shift or foot shift at all. Also he is not buying new, I will be finding him a good deal on a used one. I just need to know model names to widen my search. Thanks

I owned a Kawasaki Praire 300 for 16yrs and never had an issue with it. Mine was 4wd which I would highly recommend so they could ride all year.
The 300 had plenty of power, I used mine to plow snow off a 300 ft drive and pull my wifes car out of a snow drift. When I sold it, the first guy out bought it. In the atv tractor pull competition the Praire 300 was the top 300 class machine in that series for many years. They were considered bullit proof with proper maintenance.

Any of the 300cc auto quads would be fine. Yamaha has a Grizzly 300. Kawasaki has been making a Brute Force 300 since 2012 so there should be a few of those out there used by now. Polaris made the 2x4 Trailboss 330, those were pretty popular so I'm sure you can find one of those used for a good price. Honda did make an auto version of the Rancher 420 and it was also available in both 2wd and 4wd. The Suzuki Eiger was also available in a 2wd auto version.

Still I would suggest a 4x4 or AWD. Will be easier to resell, and if you only need 4x4 once to get out of a jam, it's worth it.

Im guessing they want 2wd because they cost less, which is true. But 4x4 is nice to have. Pretty much anything built in the last 15 years or so is part-time 4x4 so you only use 4x4 when you need it. A older Sportsman is a pretty good choice for a budget priced 4x4. Yamaha made the Kodiak 400 4x4 auto. And as Hydrex would agree, the older Arctic Cat 4x4 quads are a solid choice. A Suzuki Vinson auto would be great too, though a little more expensive.
