First atv what is necessary?
 

I am currently looking to buy new or used atv. My purpose for this atv is to clear my driveway of snow in the winter and other misc jobs around the property. Maybe even spraying chemicals on the grass in the summer. What are your suggestions of cc needed? Thanks

250cc-500cc. is this your first ATV? if so, i'd advise an ATV safety course. i promise you'll learn some safe driving tips to correct any ill advised behavior.

Generally, if you are going to be doing any kind of towing/plowing I would recommend 400cc 4x4 as my starting point. Understand that a 250cc quad is putting out similar power to many lawn tractors and is certainly capable of doing the things you mentioned with proper gearing/weighting/equipment. Have fun shopping!

Not many 250 4wd around,they were not made for very long. Once you get into the 350 to 400 you get a mid size chassis with a higher load rating then a small chassis ATV of a 250-300.
One you get into a 500 you get a larger full size chassis, some older 400s and 450s also have full size chassis.
Example, a 420 Rancher and 450 Grizzly are midsize chassis while a older 400 Arctic Cat and 450 King Quad are full size ATVs.

Don,t worry about power when plowing. A 350 will lose or break traction long before wheel turning power.

4wd with low range. For a sprayer you want a quad with a good rear rack weight rating. Best in that category is the Polaris Sportsman X2. New it comes in 550 cc. Used 500, 550, 700, and 800. They made a limited edition model that had the newer 850 cc, but those are scarce. Most quads have about a 100 lb. rating in the rear. Depends on the size of the tank you want to carry for a sprayer. I think it's 10 lbs. per gallon.

I would get a 400 or 500 4x4 with low range. As a matter of fact that is what I got. It can plow a lot of snow and tow a lot of weight. 1,225 pounds on level ground and 850 pounds on a grade. It will actually pull more weight but the brakes might not stop it! You can put 180 pounds on the rear rack and 90 on the front. Water weighs about 8-1/3 pounds so it will handle a 20 gallon sprayer easily. Every major brand makes a similar 400-500 class ATV.
