Ok to use Rotella T6 5W-40 in my Grizz 700?

Default Ok to use Rotella T6 5W-40 in my Grizz 700?

I'm wanting to run Shell Rotella T6 synthetic in the 700 Griz but I can only find it in either 0W-40 or 5W-40 weights, and the manual says it's ok to use everything BUT those weights...5W-30, 10W-30, 10W-40, 15W-40, 20W-40 and 20W-50.

Would it be ok to use the Rotella 5W-40 or do I need to stick to what's specified in the manual?

I've used it in an old Honda Nighthawk,my son used in both his SV650 and SV1000 Suzukis and no problems whatsoever. Just google this oil and all the people that have used it in cycles and atvs or look on other forums.Yamaha Grizzly 550 and 700 owners | Power Sports | Bob Is The Oil Guy Plus doesn't have the friction modifiers that can cause slippage on manual transmissions also. A good all around oil that's cheaper than a lot of other full synthetics.

Not sure how a low 0w-40 can hurt. The 0w just means it's a thinner oil only on cold starts which is a good thing , once up to temp it's a 40 weigh like any other. Here's a good link about how multi grades work.

I only use Amsoil 0w-40 in my 350 Yamaha and it been fine. it just has a wider temp range.

It and its dyno brother are the preferred oils in the Yamaha Vmax community. I run the dyno version in my Vmax...it's good stuff!

If you Google "Synthetic vs Convention oil" it's a no brain synthetic is better.
Your never going to see a GP bike, F1 or Nascar finishing a race running on old dinosaurs it would just selfdestruct..

Agreed - however the dyno stuff is more than sufficient for 99% of the applications and is considerably cheaper...just keep it clean...


I've been dragged into one-to-many oil threads...so I'm going to plead the 5th from here on out regarding this topic
