2004 Polaris sportsman v 2011 Sportsman
I'm looking at buying either a 2004 Sportsman twin 700 efi fully decked out.. Bumpers, winch, plow, after market wheels and tires.. Only 300 some miles.. Or a stock 2011 Sportsman 800 efi basically all stock with 200 miles. The price is basically the same for both. That's a big difference in year and I can't decide if all the extras is worth it with that much older of a quad

My two cents get the 800. It had a better track record than the 700. Plus 2004 was when the ignition change happened on the 700s. Some of the early ones in that year model still had the problematic Ducati ignition system. To change one of those out is close to $600 now.

The 800 is less than half as old as the 700 and less likely to have any problems. The longer they sit the worse it is on them.

If it's the 2004.5 then yes it would have the later model Kokusan ignition. I think the fuel gauge showed up on the later model speedo also IF I remember correctly..
