Want to upgrade, torn on what to get

Hi, as the title says I'm wanting to upgrade to a faster/more powerful quad. I currently have a 300ex. I'm torn between a 400ex (05+, I like having reverse on my 300 so i want to keep that) and a raptor 660. The riding I do is mostly flat open areas, small hills, and a little bit of trails. Right now I'm leaning towards the 400ex because I've never had a single issue from either of my hondas (also have a 1984 200s 3 wheeler that still runs like a champ), and I like the simplicity of the honda over the yamaha (air cooled vs liquid, single carb vs dual). I have never ridden a 660, but a friend of mine has a yamaha warrior 350 and i hate the way it feels, so if the 660 is similar i wont like that. I'm assuming a 400ex would feel and ride similar to my 300 as far as handling and riding position? If theres anything else I should be thinking about please let me know. thanks -Dan

I don't know if the Raptor 660 feels any different than the Warrior or not. A lot of people like it, a lot don't. Good bit more powerful than the Honda 400ex. Have had buddies with the 400ex that do all right here in New England until you get to deep mud or snow. One buddy in particular amazed me at where he could go. Great trail quad and super reliable.

Everything I've read on here about Raptors said if you're going to get one get a 700 instead of a 660. I don't know anyone with a 660 but one of the guys I ride with has 2 700s. Why 2? Who knows? It would be way more power than you're used to, but it sounds like the 400ex would be a good fit for you. AFAIK no one I ride with ever owned a Warrior so I can't tell you anything about them or how the ride on a Raptor would compare.
