I'm 16, and I have a confession to make.. I'm one of those guys you people hate. I bought my Banshee last year, $3,000. Since then, I have put over $2,000 into it. (Worked for EVERY thing on it). A few weeks ago, after a concussion(wreck), my mom said she thought it was time for me to get another quad. I found a supernice 250R, for a good price. I somehow talked her into it, and she paid for it. Now, i have to sell the Banshee and pay her back.. Kind of a loan type thing.. right?

Trxter, I feel your pain man. If Honda would've put all the technology into the TRX250R as they have the CR250R, NOTHING could touch it..

Im 16 turning 17 in december. I own a 86 trx250r race ready and a 2000 banshee with pipes nerfs and more. I've worked at my dads company full time in the summer since i was 14. I also work some weekends. I bought both of my quads. I paid for half of mine/dads sled (99 ski-doo formula 500) and I just recently sold my mom my sea-doo in order to pay for my 250r. Now Im not saying My parents don't buy me anything they do buy me alot. I guess you could say im spoiled but my quads i did pay for. And i don't take it easy when I ride them, I go as fast as i can. I mean I don't try to break them, I avoid all hazrds but i don't putt putt around. Also I do all the work on my quads myself, all engine rebuilds all performance upgrades etc. the only thing the shop has ever done for me was rebuild my suspension and port and polish my cyclinder. I love working on my quads, it gives me a sense of reality because i no when i break something i have to fix it instead of going raceing the next weekend. ....

How do you like your 99 Formula 500? I have a 96 Formula SLS 500. It rocks!

You guys are digging up some antique posts here!

But, on a followup....

I cracked the case on my 250R, so now I get to spend the $300+ to get a new one. I guess I should start looking for a 2nd job!

well, i am 34 years old, and my first quad was purchased 5 years ago, when i could finally afford one. I dreamed of owning a quad since they were born, but in MY FAMILY, you paid rent from 15 on. At 18 i had to go on my own, and was a father for the first time when i was 19. So, when i see responsibility, i see it start on the food i eat, the cloths i wear, and the roof over my head. When you say YOU paid for the 4 wheelers, then just remember, you paid for them, couse your parents pay for you to live and eat. My 15 year old is now saving money to buy a used 4 wheeler, (thank god, so i can have mine back, haha). Dont get me wrong, i think its great to see young men and woman saving and being responcible to there toys, just never forget who takes care of you's so you can take care of you's too. Becouse of how i was raised, i have a love and a RESPECT for the toys i own, and i see it taking shape in my oldest son. Of corse, he has no responcibility like food, or rent, but he does see where i get my values from.

Hi, I just turned 14 years old, and raise the $4950 to buy a 2001 Polaris scrambler 400. I had absolutely no help at all from my parents. It's stock right now, but soon to come are an AAEN top-end pipe, clutch kit, and jet kit.Does that sound like good first mods to ya'll? does anyone recomend anything else? Oh yeah, did I mention I'm paying for all my mods by myself!

AdamScrambler,

It's really good to see someone buy their own quad, at your age. A 12 year old in our town was handed a full LSR/Honda 250R set up for flattracking. His parents have more in their back pocket than in their head. He just bought an $800 set of Ohlins shocks, $500 set of Full Bore plastic, and he says his parents are going to buy him a 400EX for christmas... This isn't the way to raise a kid!! Make him work for it!

Ok, my mom bought me my first quad, but I sill had to work for it, and everything I owned since is because I sold the first one to pay for the next. Now my mom just had a baby so now I have to get a job to get a new quad, I would much rather work for my quad than have it handed to me for a couple reasons, but mainly because it would truely be MINE! that I payed for, and also, your parents can't hold it against you(used guilt trip to get me to paint our house and help build a new back porch, but I feel I had to do it to pay them back) so you shouldn't really gripe about some of us that do get ONE quad from our parents, because we are still working for it. Speaking of jobs, any idea's (15, nobody wants to hire me)
