let me get the simple stuff outta the way first:
trailriding, low mountain path type stuff (i live in alaska, but im not trying to go up the damn mountians.. just along side them) i want to spend under $5,000 no, ive never owned any sort of "powertoy" ever in my life. for shame i know. i can ride tho.. played on friends 500dirt bike, honda foreman s, banshee. ahh, banshee is plenty damn fast, but im thinking along the lines of 300ex or warrior or whatever else you smart fellas can come up with. -but i dont want any heavy ass 4wd beast. i enjoy speed, but im more of a controlled trail rider with jumping.. no need for me to go breakneck speeds (just yet) any info appreciated |
btw, i read thru all the other posts about new atv'ers buying their first atvs.. so i just didnt come in here blind and post away.
what about the mojave? im also checking all over the net for reviews on sport atvs.. doing my homework like i should. |
Check out the new z400 when ever it gets here!
|
whos making that? and whats estimated price?
any links for info? come on.. u cant tell half a damn story.. gimme info! |
I bought my 400EX for $5400 OTD. I think the Suzuki Z400 will be around the same. Depends on your size but check out the 400EX. It's a good quad to learn on. Be careful though because it has some snot to it too. Good luck!!

Sport quad, under $5K... I say the first choice would be a Honda 400EX. If you were really interested in keeping cost down and didn't mind a lessor handling quad I'd get a Warrior. A Mojave would be another good choice.

I'm in the process of buying two quads.
I'm looking at getting one Kawasaki Praire 650 and one Kawasaki Praire 360, same things, just one has a bigger engine than the other. The 650 has a speedometer and trip meter too. The best price I've found on a 360 is $4,999. Down in Midland, TX. |
If you trail ride AND want to jump, I would suggest either a 300EX, or a 400EX.
If you have any riding skills at all, and are big enough, you might want to consider the 400EX. It has excellent suspension, and enough power for you to grow into. Just my opinion. |
just remember that the 400ex doesn't have reverse!!
if i were you i would go with the warrior, it is just under $5,000 and it is a fairly fast, and fun quad. and it has reverse. |
Right perrya!
Reverse is nice to have, but I wouldn't want to jump a warrior too much. They are very heavy, and lack the suspension you will find on the 400EX. Reverse IS something to consider though! Also keep in mind the 300EX has reverse too! |
