What essential equipment used for hiking ?
 

Hello friends,

Our family is planning to go for camping next week so I just want to know what are essential camping hiking equipment used for hiking.

Any help would be appreciative..!

The first question would be, are you camping, and going hiking from there? Makes a difference whether you're driving to the campsite, setting up camp and then going the trails for a few hours as opposed to hiking 10-20 miles to the campsite. Done both and it makes a huge difference on equipment and supplies taken along.

In my point of view these are essential things for hiking: Topographic Map, Compass, Flashlight, Sunglasses, Extra Food and Water, First Aid Kit, Matches, Fire Starter, Food Storage Device

Don't forget the TP.

don't forget stamina and maybe an oxygen bottle for the higher elevations for the "out of shape" folks :D

Depending where you are and the weather, you might want to take rain gear too.

The OP made 2 posts the same day then disappeared. They could be lurking but they're probably long gone.

I agree with DeniseFrank that you need good boots. And don't try to break in a new pair on a hike. Get them broke in at work or around the neighborhood first. Good boots that fit right and are broken in can make the difference between an enjoyable experience and pure hell. Some good thick boot socks help too.

My hiking excursions have gone from long walks in the woods, to parking at the far end of the parking lot.:o

My hiking excursions are going out the back door to the front sidewalk to my mailbox and back. I really should be walking around the neighborhood or in a shopping mall every day but find it boring. I used to hunt small game when I was younger and did a lot of walking through the woods. Now, nothing.
