my little train will not haul @$$ ... help
#21
I have a question ...
Could the lose of power be from a lose battery connection. I started thinking back ... about the same time the lack of power started was the same time my battery connection was lose.
I have only hand tightened the nut when it stalled.
has anyone else had a similiar problem connected to the battery?

Well, my stator don't charge the battery, I have to get it rebuilt. And yes I know it's the stator for sure so nobody tell me I need to get a different voltage regulator because that was already done.
I do know the DS wont even run without a battery because it uses the power from the battery to run the ignition.

Well SOB that darn thing still does not haul @$$. It is weird it idles fine, but just lacks *****.
I was hoping that the battery being properly butted up would solve the problem.
I noticed riding today that it would stall occasionaly and then I had no power to start. But if I turned the key off and back on the power was there.
Has anyone had anything electrica l affect their performance? I mean like a bad voltage regulator , ign. , CDI , ground...
HELP ... I can barely out run a scrambler 200.
My next step is to check compression and valve clearance.

Weird as it sounds, try changing your plugs with new ones. And check the gap before you do. My DS was stalling sometimes when releasing the throttle and felt slow at times when I first got it. I put 2 new plugs in. The stalling dissapeared. But I think it was probably because of a soot build-up on the plugs because I was very rich at the time...

thanks ... I will give that a shot to see if it solves the problem. I just put new ones in a few months ago ,but that was before I did all of the water riding.

Shadow,
Have you had your gas tank off before this started happening? If so, check the vent hose that wraps around the tank. If it is kinked, it will starve the engine for gas.
