Can't rev past 5g's
When I get to about 5,000 rpms' my DS cuts out like it is hitting the rev limitor. Does this sound like I might have something in my carb causing this to happen???
Also what kind of fuel filter are you guys using??? Thanks!!! |

i had this problem when my battery was completely dead. i had to push start it. runs fine at low rpm as soon as you get it to about 5000rpm it cuts out...

That is prolly carb related...I'm almost certain...
Are you 100% sure your TAch is not giving you a bad reading?? Has it always done this? |

No, it was running fine all day. Started going through some massive whoops, brought the front end up and then it started happening...

I smell float or diaphragm issue...
Time to get those hands dirty and check the float level with a ruler or clear tube....And inspect the diaphragm for tears or holes.. Make sure you have gas.. |

Yes I do have gas...lol....
I just pulled the diaphram off and no wholes or anything there.... This is the first time messing with the carb. What kind of screws should I buy. I know I should get allen head screws, but help me out here. Also I tried to remove the 2 screws on the top of the carb. Damn one was already stripped a little bit...hmm... so I ended up stripping it all the way... I assume it is time to get the drill out??? The other one came off with now problem. I will be forever greatfull for all the help. Need to get this thing running before next weekend. Thanks!!! |

either use a chisel to loosen the screw or try vice grips.
Seems like these bikes have even the smallest screw welded in. jbt |

If you have side-access to the screw (unfamaliar with stock carb), just use some good pliers (Don't use needle-noses, use meatier with a good smooth grip (no big teeth) and that has good leverage,,,it should come off no problem)..
I replaced my stripped screws with Grade 5 Phillips bolts... Grade 5 is enough I'd say...My new ones won't sheer or strip at all (so far anyway)... Some use the heavy duty black allen-head screws... Those are very high grade and are indestructable...But if they go in cross-thread or something happens... The aluminum casting on the carb itself will strip or get damaged before the bolt...$$$$... That's why they come with such buttery bolts.. Jeff |

Ok, I am really confused. I tore the carb apart hoping to find like a grain of sand or something in a jet or somewhere. NOTHING!!! So before I put everything back together, anybody else know what it could have been???
Thanks!!! |
