OK...Now it won't start with 45 and alky!! HELP
Being the impatient dude that I am, I went on and installed the alky kit (except I have NO main jet). I put a 60 pilot, 95 needle, new float needle and seat in it. I put it on the bike, went and got 5 gallons of alky and grape top end lube.
When I tried to start it it would not even hit!!! I tried it choked, not choked, no throttle, WOT, nothing worked!!! I could smell the fuel, plugs were wet, checked mixture screw (2 1/2 out), switch was on, i could not find anything wrong!!! I have the stock cdi on it, and #8 plugs with gap at .035". Do I need a hotter plug??? Bigger gap??? The tm45 is very new and different to me, am i overlooking something??? Will it be OK to leave alky in carb overnight??? |

No I have not tried to pull it YET.
I wish I had a main jet to put in it, didn't get any main jets with the carb OR the alky kit for some reason. It was in the mid 70's when i was fooling with it, will try some more tomorrow. After I charge the battery that is. |

Spark plug gap should be between .026 and .030. Run a 60 or 70 pilot, drill the needle tube out to .125 and hold on. No pilot,, runs too rich, and you will get poor low end response and start back firing.

I already have the 60 pilot, oversized float needle/seat, and tube (.125") that came with the alky kit. Will regap plugs tomorrow. Went and watched motoX at a new local track today.
Hotter plugs couldn't hurt while running alky could they??? I feel like the SCARECROW on the Wizard of Oz...."If I only had a MAIN"!!!!!!! |

I met Quadman at Snakehunt and he told me to take out my pilot and it ran sooooo much better than with it. Id try it without one. I also tried no main and it ran okay also but you will need one. This might sound stupid but about 4 months ago I was at a local drag race and my DS was very hard to crank. After it cranked it ran like sh-t. By the time the races were over it would not even pull up the ramp onto the trailer. I jetted and checked everything over and over. Then the last time I took the carb off I forgot to turn the fuel off and noticed it just trickled out. I removed the pitcock and it was clogged up with something that looked like silicone. I cleaned it and it ran fine. I later ordered a Pingel from Alba. I wanted to make sure it was getting plenty of fuel.
