dsracer666- i agree with most of what you say about a drag race being decided on pure power but to keep a motor together for a long period of time under the stresses that they go through under continual racing does take some level of knowledge and skill.i am much heavier than the average rider at 260 lbs but because i can shift and clutch better than most riders i can still pull off quite a few wins that i shouldnt be able to so there is some skill required.i have never raced mx on a quad but i have been riding for many years(over 25) and have been in most any situation that you could imagine and i know what a tiring experience a long ride at a fast pace is all about so yes a drag race requires significantly less skill than mx but still it is not just about power.IMO.

dsracer666, drag racing is about perfection. If you miss a shift, although just a split second, you lose. If your whatever is not right on and at 100% you lose. Where as in MX if you miss a shift, two wheel a corner, ect you still can make it up in the following lap/laps. I have alot of respect for each style of racing. To each their own.

Ward660R is right. I just started grass drags a week ago. In a 300ft drag if you are not totally perfect in every respect you lose and thats it. One mistake is the difference between advancing to the money or packing up early and going home. I never raced MX on a quad but I have raced closed course and off shore on jet skis. The biggest skill you needed there was endurance, and lots of it. The biggest skill needed for ALL racing is reaction time and that can't be taught. I have resect for all racers of any kind using any medium. It takes a lot of preparation and time to get the job done. Peace!
