When you got your ATV in Az, you got an Az OHV plate that said "RV" and then a number. The plate is the same size as an Az motorcycle plate. You also got a paper registration to go with the plate.

Az law requires the OHV offroad plate to be securely mounted in a visible location at the rear of your bike. Ca LEOs know this!

Locate you plate and put it on the back of your bike. (I used zip ties off the 6-pack rack). Carry you paper registration, or a copy, with your bike. ( I put mine in the tool kit under the seat.) You can be warned, or cited, for this in Az also by Az LEOs.

There has been some discussion about a Ca state employee who has interpreted the Ca law that Az does not have a "real" OHV registration program and we need to buy the $20 sticker.

I read the laws and feel the state employee has misread the law to get Az residents to pay more money, but my opinion is that Az does register OHVs for offroad, just in a different manner than Ca does.

If the non-resident sticker money went back to improving the off road areas, I would pay for it anyway, but the money has been used against OHV interests as a blackmail tool and even to fund closing areas by the liberal green eco-nuts. They are getting "our" money to use against us in Ca.

The BLM told me they will accept Az OHV registration as valid.

ICSO told me they will not accept Az OHV registration, but plan on giving mostly warnings at first. BUT, the warnings are only if you are displaying your Az OHV plate as required by Az law. If you have no plate, you need to get the $20 Ca sticker.

I plan on using my Az OHV registration and if cited, will take my case to court as I am complying with Ca law as it is written! We need to stick together to fight unfair interpretation by an employee. This may need to be determined in court by a judge to clarify the laws.

I just found this thread on the ASA BBS. It has direct, updated, correspondence from the BLM and ICSO reference the interpretations on Az OHV registration in the ISDRA.

Here is the link:
