I just installed a Pingry's exhaust tip on the DS650. It is a dirt cheap way to gain power. It is all aluminum, but hand made. It only cost me $76. Their number is 661-822-7016. It is loud, but that goes with the territory. It has a deeper sound to it, kinda like a Harley. I noticed the exhaust packing was almost empty, so I might need to put some more packing in to keep it from getting too loud. I will test the DS out this weekend and see how it performs. My initial impression from a parking lot spin is that is sounds and feels a lot like the Ron Woods pipe, but without the cost! Also, it MIGHT be slightly quieter than the Big Gun exhaust w/o quiet core insert, but I could be wrong.

The spark arrestor is the stock tip, so if I want to run legal, I can put the stock tip on at any time. The pingry's exhaust tip is open with no restriction.

I tested the DS today mostly on sand with the pingry's exhaust tip. The lowend got a boost and the DS pulled a little harder from the lower RPMs, but the upper RPMs seemed to suffer - acceleration leveled off around 6000RPM. I didn't adjust the jetting or remove the airbox lid though. The stock pipe seems to pull hard in the midrange and continue to the upper RPMs to the rev limit.

IF you changed your pipe, it is more "less restrictive" there fore i think you have to change your jetting, it may be running alittle lean right now, and without an airbox lid, it woudl be even more lean. If the new cap is less restrictive then you should gain in all rpm's, it shoulndt just be in low end, it should be all around better power. I think/???

300exSTER, I think WOT leaned out just a little with the exhaust tip. I need to go up in the main jet and maybe remove the airbox lid.

More bad luck. Today, my Pingry's exhaust tip blew apart. It separated where the round disk was welded to the cylindrical section that has the screw holes in it.

I decided to see if the shop can re-weld the tip for me. It is easier and quicker than sending the tip back to Pingry's. The problem with the tip is that the weld that broke was one sided and should have had some reinforcement welds on the opposite side. It was after I changed the jetting to get peak power out of the motor that the tip blew out. The pressure coming out of the tip was very high at the time due to better jetting and cold weather.
