OIL COOLER ON A DS650???!!!???
I was wondering if anyone has ever came across a kit or something maybe that I could mount an oil cooler on the DS650. I do alot of trail riding (to include tight woods) which means the fan is on every 3 minutes. I wanted to possibly add an oil cooler and also a Supercooler. Does anyone know where I could find either????

OIL COOLER ON A DS650???!!!???
Forum member Shmee has a oil cooler on his DS650 & Jetjock16 had one on his DS650 before he sold the DS. Also if you don't have the radiator shrouds you need to look into them. I also ceramic coated my stock header & that helped the engine temps down.

Oil Cooler DS650
I have an Oil Cooler I was wondering if anyone can give me some tips on installing it on my 2001 DS650. I use it for trail riding, trying. Thinking about getting some header tape too, and wrapping the whole exhaust. Thanks

radiator shrouds are good for pushin more air in to the motor, but it takes away the breeze going by your legs to keep them cool, specially right next to the exhaust! I dont like the in-line coolers, i've had 2 of the bigger ones and i dont think they work for quads, they just get hot lol so hard to cool anything when the liquid is goin thro hot metal. I did run a PWR radiator for a lil bit, along with Engine Ice, and i dont think my fan ever kicked on after that setup, course PA isnt known for its heat lol :)

I have a PWR Radiator and recently put Engine ice. I have a 730 with 13:1 compression.. will post ride report when I fire it in 2 weeks hopefully.
I would go the cheaper route first, get engine ice (make sure you flush out the old coolant completely) see if that works. Can't go wrong there. |
