bought a ds 650 lemon

Hi guys, just looking for suggestions or ideas on a course of action.Purchased a '05 ds650 in february of this year, rode it for about 3 weekends before the recall.Took it to the dealer for the bearing recall and three weeks later I get it back and I'm riding again.Saturday I rode it for about 2 hours, sunday went to the sanddunes and it would not start.Tried everything couldn't get it to fire,so I took it back to the dealer.Today is the beginning of the third week it's been at the dealers and I'm here planning my fourth of july ride(the ride that is almost a 10 hour trip away and that I planned my whole week vacation around and purchased the quad for this purpose) with my friends, without a quad.I am pissed. Called the dealer today and they are still working on it but can't get it to fire.I spent 6100.00 on a quad and it's been in for repairs 2 times during the first 5months of purchase ,Is that normal? I have used three tanks of gas and its been under repairs two times before the first oil change.Any suggestions appreciated!Going to cal bombardier customer service tommorrow to raise hell if they are not helpful!

Battery? Fuses bad? Not grounded? Fuel problem? Bad Spark Plugs? Bad CDI?
If they replace the motor... try to get the old... I might be interested...

Dont feel bad , I spent 7600 on a 2005 baja x I put about 3 or 4 hours on it then had to have my achilles tendon reattached, I had to send it in for the recall, now that im ready to ride it one of the cells in the battery went bad and drains the battery overnight. The dealer tells me to bring the battery in and they will charge it to see if it is good or not. A week later they call me back and tell me it has a bad cell. Now instead of just giving me a new battery they want me to bring the bike in to check the charging system. If i dont bring it in they will not replace the battery for me. I took one of my batteries out of my other bike and the x has no problems keeping that one charged. I really dont think its bombardiers fault alot of this crap has to do with the dealers. Lemon or not i would not get rid of any of mine.

I bet u its a dead battery. Start there, my '05 got rode once, and then sat for 2 weeks in the garage, I took it out w/out checking to see if it will start first, drove 2 hours to ride and the damn thing wouldn't start!!! That time it was a dead battery... I keep it on a battery tender now all the time when not in use.($40) I also could not start the damn pig when my neg. battery cable was loose(not even that loose) it acted like a dead battery.... Also if your starter relay button is movable on the handle bars IT IS NOT GROUND!!! and will not start. That deal needs to be tight and scratch ground. Check all these deals, your problem is electrical... and damn you should still be under warranty.

Sounds like a bad dealer!
If most of us on the Forums can figure things out these "Professionals" should be able to figure things out in a matter of minutes!
You may want to try another dealer.
The DS is a strong and reliable machine. You shouldn't have problems.
Requirements for combustion:
Air - are you getting air through your valves? Carb?
Fuel - is your vent line on you gas tank plugged? Carb plugged up?
Spark - This is your most likely issue. Battery, CDI, Plug, etc. can all be issues
Compression - You need compression for combustion. Valve clearance - have you had the 10 hour service? Usually it just becomes more and more difficult to start. Not starting at all is generally electrical on a stock bike. On a modified bike I also look at the valve train.
Call the dealer and tell them they need to figure it out. It shouldn't be that tough for "Experts like them".

STOCK BATTERIES ARE PYLES OF GARBAGE!!!
The week I got mine used, the battery crapped out. I bought a charger, and noticed that in the summer months, it doesnt hold a charge very long.
I replaced it with a suncoast battery. it fires every time now!!!

Oh so many Bomb dealers suck very badly. Your bike was in the shop for 3 weeks to change bearings in the rear end, that's a 1.5 hour job. Sad that they got outa the factory with insifficient lube, but stuff happens everywhere like that and at least they recalled. But the dealers, its very common for many many bomb dealers to suck at knowledge and service. The common denomonator here is Bomb - Bomb needs to be more particular of who they allow to be a dealer, plain and simple. Bomb needs to stop allowing anyboyd and everybody to become a dealer, too many dealerships have popped up everywhere out of lawn and garden centers, tractor suppliers, etc. They make it too easy for mechanics with no prior experience to get cirtified. Bomb needs to stop this, its a very big problem. i wrote them and told them, but they do not listen.
