I have a first gen DS. Seemed like that Rev limiter was just abrupt. Supposedly the later models it's a more gentle rev limit.

 

Bone, I was riding with someone that just bought one and I asked him and he said that it only hit 7200 rpm. I knew the limit was higher and he said it didn't seem to hit the limit that quick. I told him to look at it again but now I wonder if the tachs have a problem. Let us know what the dealer says.

 

I called the dealer and ask what the part # was on an 03 baja cdi, when he gave me the # it matched up with my red ds. The numbers matched up when i checked the 03 baja they were the same numbers as the one on the 03 red one. theres supposed to be a 200 difference in them but there isn't. the book says 7900 for baja and 7700 the other one.

 

Mine kicks in around 7200-7300rpm's. I didn't know any better and from drag racing with my Dad I felt/feel it would help the engine last longer.
You drag racers will want all she can give. Riding through the woods makes it a non-issue.

Yes me and a couple friends are thinking about signing up this season. I dont know if we will be ready for the first race Sept 9th. What kind of protective gear besides a helmet do you need?
