I say worth the drive, it would be sweet if Hightower was there, he is an awesome guide for the place.

I would say yes the badlands would be worth a 6 hour drive. It is only a 3 hour drive for us, but silver lake is 5.5 hours.

You really get the most out of the badlands when you have a good guide to get you around the whole park- otherwise most people just end up staying in the main spots the majority of the time.

I would love to go to Badlands, Silver Lake is enough to go. Maybe if my group decides to go but I highly doubt it. Besides I will most likely have my kid. Easier to keep an eye on him in a place I am familiar with. Anyone else planning on bringing thier kiddies?

all us semi-local boys know the place well, if you're from indiana or illinois you pretty much got the place covered!

I will be bringing my wife and boy to SL, he'll be 11 months old by then and they will most likely hang on the beach and build sand castles and get a little wet. She doesn't ride, but once he starts in a few years she probably will too!

Good times aroudn the campfires that night too I hope - some people will stay in motels, others at a lodge or campground, jellystone is a nice place....
I'm thinking of staying at Silver Hills Resort, in the lodge, and have a big fire outside saturday night. Not sure yet..we'll see.

I'll get some links posted on the webpage this week, by friday it should be up, I'll put links to lodging info and stuff.
Right now Flatlanders domain is down, it expired yesterday, I made a mistake with renewing!! But I got it straightened out today, it'll be up tomorrow, and a new subdomain will be created for East Coast DS Days friday. Once its up I'll post a link.
i will also fire up a gallery with public access - one album for everybody to post pics they have to share some previous experiences, and another will be made to upload all the pics we all take on this upcoming event!

Sounds good HT- I only see one problem with this event... its still half a year away!

For those of us fortunate enough to be able to hit up LS/St.A's this year hopefully that will tide us over till eastern DS days!

flatlandersatv.com back up and running, domain re-registered, I will build webpage for East Coast DS Days tomorrow.
soon as its done I will post link.

looks like we have a date for the event at Silver Lake? Is July 29-30 what I need to post on the page? Seems to jive best with weather conditions, school schedules, and missing the busy holidays...if there is no objection this is what I will post, I know majority has to rule I suppose, some may not be able to make it, if there is a better suggestion I am all ears.

As for Badlands Ride, what day? july 31, aug 1,2,3,4,5? you guys pick, the folks with the long drives have the most to consider. But Silver Lake is the main event, make no mistake about that. The Badlands is just extra bang for those interested who are coming from far with Badladands not being too much outa their way. We don't have to pic a day for it yet, I will mention it in the webpage and post links for it so people can check it out and consider it.
here's a link to it now actually.....

some pics of Badlands...
Badlands pics, two pages
