PC545 Battery Case

Hi All,
I just got a DS650 over the weekend and it needed a battery. Based off this forum I got the PC545. The only thing I ran into was the orange metal case the battery came in was a little wide to fit in the battery box.
I slid the battery out of its case just to fit it and get it running.
Has anyone else ran into this? I searched the forum and did not see this come up.
I just worry that the battery may not hold up without its metal case.
Let me know what you think!!
Thanks!!

I just bought a 545 a few weeks ago and it did not come in a metal case. And neither does the stock one. The demintions of the stock battery and the deminsions of the pc545 are the same and both fit in the stock location perfectly. No metal case needed. I hope I understood you correctly.

No metal case here either. Was it just shipped in the metal case or does it look like it was designed that way?

It fits like a glove, nice and tight. Almost full height on all 4 sides and about 1/2 lip under the battery around the bottom. Its painted orange. The battery that came with the DS fit right in it.

I got it from the local Napa parts house, and its an Odyssey PC545MJ. Link
The battery itself is the same size as the battery I took out. So it sound like its just got a an extra metal jacket.
Thanks!!

Look at your part #PC545MJ. Where MJ = Metal Jacket.

The PC545 fits a series of Harleys so the metal jacket is probably for that application.
Good to know you can get it that way if you want to use it in areas where heat is a problem

Edit- I wrote this before looking at the link...really wasn't trying to state the obvious
