Whats the difference's besides the engine? I thought I noticed dual a-arms on the 800 up front and security lock feature. Is that it?

Don't know about all the feature differences on the two, but there's only a $900 difference in msrp .. so why bother with the 650?

im considering the 650 and not the 800 because the 800 is too powerful to the point that it would be dangerous for girlfreind and 5 year old on back with a combined weight of 180lbs. the extra power is not needed and would be a waste of money. The 650 would be enough power also to never get bored of. the 400 im not sure but i know it has enough power to haul 180lbs with out any problems. im more concerned about other improvements brp may have made between the two than the power.

Hi I own a 650 and it is great. The 650 has efi, dual a-arm front suspension, 2" longer wheelbase, 2" more suspension travel and almost 3" more ground clearance. All of these upgrades make a big difference, personally what made me buy the 650 was efi for snappy throttle response and cold weather starts and the improved handling and ride over the 400. The extra cost was well worth it for the 650. Thats my 2 cents.

PS The power is close to the 800 so you won't get bored fast.

thought i might mension that when ones available an exhaust on the 650 would make a world of difference

All I know is I have a 330 and that thing has NEVER bogged down on me, not once, took it through a few mud holes where I was 100% certain I was stuck and managed to get through them. I can only IMAGINE what a 650 or 800 can do [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif[/img])

Thanks, Thats just the information I was looking for because there is a a $2500 difference between the two. Thats alot for just a bigger engine.

Help me with Rumor control here. I heard the frames on the brp are weak and break easy. Is this true? do I need to buy skid plates?

Are BRP's high maintenance? and reliable? I hate unreliable quads.

with that said I am also considering the Polaris X2 because its $800 less than the 650.

Whoever started this BS about the frames being weak and breaking easy is nonsense. Mine rolled pretty bad and the only damage was to the plastic, not a single bit of mechanical damage in fact I rode it the rest of the day. Reliability for me has not been an issue...like I said, even after rolling it pretty badly (I thought it was totaled at first glance) got up and rode the heck out of it all day.

Neither my Outlander or DS650 have left me stranded or had any other mechanical problems that were not rider/owner related.

Not sure about the skid plate stuff, I've personally never seen any need for one and the way the undercarriage is designed it in itself is a kind of skid plate. A-arm protectors might not be a bad idea.

Everything is fairly easily accessible if that is what you mean? Haven't had to change my differential although I don't ride every weekend.

The place I had my DS serviced is a BRP "dealer" but his main business is mod's, repairs, racers, etc......he usually carries one of each model but it's not his bread and butter. I was fairly new to BRP at the time and tried to pick his brain a bit but he honestly said he sees very, very few problems that aren't rider related.
