Default HELP..I CAN'T DECIDE..CAT 650TRV or CANAM MAX?

honestly do think the AC is better bone stock compared to the Can am - FOR ME. Here in MN ground clearance is a big deal. So are racks. I could care less if the engine is a little faster, that isn't going to make a difference out in the hunting field or plowing snow. I agree that to people in CA who only ride trailes fast, the Can-am would be the better choice.
>>>>>>>>>>>

Innovation!! What has A/C brought to the table recently?

Visco Loc is more innovative, it may not be what every hard core mudder would necessarily choose but for the mass market, it is a very well designed system.

TTI rear IRS, more innovative then traditional IRS systems, uses fewer parts and if you watch the video, you can see the advantage.

SST frame, innovative, some may not like it or argue its practicality but it is innovative.

Digitally Encoded Security System, similar to most cars now, you can't start it without the key. Innovative!

Rotax V-Twin HO engines....arguably the best in the business??

Placement of the air box on the 800's, 650's, may not be an original idea but a great idea none the less. Eliminates the need for a snorkle for the average rider.

Inboard front and rear disc brakes......Innovative!

Single lever braking, again, for the mass appeal, it's a great concept, may not be an original idea by BRP but very practical none the less.

The Outlander is the ONLY ATV you can purchase with all these features.

Again, let me remind you that I'm coming from the perspective of the average, mass consumer. CA isn't just flat trail riding....I do mostly mountain trail riding and one access trail we use is two miles nearly straight up, you have to get ON it and can't let up till you get to the top period. I personally am not into riding in the mud, and I don't hunt. I'd argue that the mass consumer doesn't either. Don't get me wrong, I've lived in MN and hunting is a way of life for some but the guy walking into the ATV shop to get a quad for himself, wife and/or kids probably isn't into all that. BRP isn't aiming for that crowd, they are aiming for the sport/ute/rec group, not necessarily the hardcore mudders, hunters etc......

Like I said, I'm sure A/C makes a fine machine, but when you interject a response with "I honestly do think the AC is better bone stock compared to the Can am - FOR ME. " you are making a personal observation and not a subjective one. Text

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think I ever said the Can-am isn't Innovated. Maybe I haven't been clear, but I DO REALLY LIKE the Can-ams. But it is not something I would have as my main ATV. Since you asked, here is the Innovation that AC has brought to the ATV industry first (to the best of my knowledge

1) MRP Speedracks
2) toe/heal shifter
3) zero grease zerks
4) ACT semi-auto suspention
5) 6.5 gallone fuel tank
6) Two-up riding
7) a hemi built engine
8) 2" receiver hitch
9) start in gear feature
10) 10" of suspension travel with 5 adjustment hights that can be made without taking the tires off
11) complete with a polyurathane full coverage skid plate

Those are just a few I could think of while I am sitting at my desk

Again, I like the TTI due to the less parts, however it seems to me that on an ATV it would be a disadvantage. My ATV tires have grips on the sidewalls, so that when my suspension compresses, those grips also can grab and help get out of the rut. I have seen the video before (I tried to watch it again but couldn't find it) and it seemed like a big gimic to me. Same with the SST frame. And there brakes. AC also has single lever breaking, and has since 1996.

Finally, of course my statement is a personal one, but also a subjective one. Tell me, how could a Can-am suite me better for my needs???

Default HELP..I CAN'T DECIDE..CAT 650TRV or CANAM MAX?

I am not here to argue with anyone. My dad just bought a 800 Max XT and it is a very nice machine. But since I am use to sport bikes I really don't like the single brake. It is on the wrong side. I want to shift and I will brake and that don't work for me. I would have to move it to the other side. Does anyone ever have this problem. I am afraid if something came up and I got in a pickle I would launch myself. I just tried to remember to only use my foot brake that made it easier for me to ride.

Every machine has its good and bad points for different people my dad for instance went thru quite a few before he finally found one he says he is gonna keep.
I am glad he found it. No matter what brand it is I am glad he found the one that suites him the best.

I have no use for a 4x4 except to push snow so for me price is the selling point. Cause it would be sitting most of the time.

I for one am glad that there is so many different machines out there so everyone can find the one that is right for them and be happy.

I come from a snowmobile background so I like the brake on the left side, and it is completly natural to me, but that is a good point, I never thought of it from a dirtbike point a view!

Default HELP..I CAN'T DECIDE..CAT 650TRV or CANAM MAX?

After looking at you List I would say it more fiction than fact the only thing AC came out with on our list is the shifter that no one liked or wanted and the racks the better things Polaris had first like starting in gear, plastic skid, long travel suspenion, and the first two up was brp's and the reson they have large gas tank is because they use a large amount of gas. What did they do buy some engines dodge.

You dont know a thing about the ATV industry. You have just lost all credibility with me, and probably your own friends. BRP had the first 2 seater?????? Are you kidding?? Long travel??? AC was the first true Independent suspension, with 10 inches of travel as stated. Not Polaris. And no, they dont use more gas. Are you jealous that you have to turn around and go back before the AC? People like the extra gas. Plastic skids? Polaris doest offer skid plates as a standard on the machines. AC already has them on theirs. WRONG again. I think you just foolishly grasped at straws hoping to prove Catterman right, and made yourself look silly. Humorous

Dottie, I don't know personally cause I have only the std Outy 800XT, but there are some people with both the std Outy and the Max.

Most all of them say they feel safer and more stable climbing steeps with the max due to it's extra 8" of length.
