How do ya'll like your Outlanders???

I'm gonna be upgrading wheelers later this spring. I'm gonna go from an '02 Sportsman 400 to either a 650 or 800 Outlander XT. Just curious how the 650 and 800 compare to one another. As well as what you like or don't like about these machines. Thanks for any feedback.

I bought my Outty 650Efi in beginning of January and have driven with it now 10 hours, like it very much. All I miss about my old Polaris is it's front lock and that nice locker in front.
CanAm is good in tracks but in woods not. In my use it's enough. Between 800 and 650 I don't find so mamny reasons that make me put ?4000 more on the desk.

650 or 800? The same machine, one's got 150 cc more than the other one. If you want the most power get the big one. Only you can answer that.

cons: $400 skid plates required at first tank of gas. Canam should have put that protection on there. Front suspension sags, shocks are junk. Canam will not step up on either of these issues, and I have no use for canam. When he gets an Outy, tell the dealer you want the 'upgrade' springs and shocks all around. Canam will not offer these upgrades as a fix for their suspension screwup. Tell the dealer you want them, after you have settled on final price. My ground clearance is 8.5", canam still telling the 12" lie in their advertising.

pros: Everything else. Canam reeks, but they make the best quad. I don't know what the guy is talking about that the Outy isn't good in the woods, but is good on roads only? He's only got 10 hrs seat time. I've got 2500 miles on mine, nothing but mountain trails in the woods. They will slide turns like they've got a straight rear axle if you know how to ride it.

Me too.

They can put me down for at least 2 of them when they come out with a 1000 model.

How do ya'll like your Outlanders???

Good afternoon,

I bought the '07 Outlander 650 MaxXT in Camo finish just before the winter. Only have 9 hours on it so far. It's my first ATV so I cannot compare it to any other machine.

That being said....................I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! More power than I will most likely ever need. However, if I do get a snow plow for it, my 650 will handle it.

Check out my photos!!!

Hope this helps.

my uncle has an Outty 800. Power , Power, Power!!!!

cons:That being said for my type of riding, me personally I would not buy this bike. It is not a hard core bush machine at all, more for trails with occasional trip off the beaten path. The ground clearence is not enough seems to always be bottoming out on things, i am not a fan of the visco lock system in really tight areas in the thick sloppy stuff.

pros: amazing power, very comfortable, handles awesome, well thought out machine, things are where they should be

depends what you will be using the bike for most of the time. As i said not good at all as a real bush machine but a GREAT bike for trail riding and some utility usage. Hope this was helpfull for you

I have a 07 650 I now have like 25 hrs on it and love it It is the best quad for me. I have done a few modds to mine to fix factory problems ex. weak frame= fixed, need for skids= done, water entry= fixed now all I have to do is the springs which I have not had a problem with yet.

Also I dont know what he was talking about eather about front lock and woods riding I think it does better than the popo in the woods but that is just my opinion.

As far as power goes the 800 is bigger and faster but not by as much as you would think I raced a 800 in a 500ft drag and out of 5 runs he beat me 1 time and we tied 2 times I beat him 2 times but he had bad starts both times i beat him. So power wise they both get it done if you are gonna be towing or plowing or working it I would spend the extra cash and get the 800. I just use mine to ride so the 650 was better for me. Hope this helps.

I bought the 07 650 last summer. I love it! Here in norther MN we have MUD, I'm talking red clay and deap holes. More power than I need, I added the aluminum full skid plates and A-arm protectors right from the start. I've had zero problems. The best is pictures of me pulling the hubby (polaris 700) out of the mud! Even the 589's could save him! It is spendy but worth it.
