Guru's HelpASAP!!!!!
What all possible causes of a stock piston hitting the intake valves??? How much damage could have been done? Still safe to run that head with those valves??? Help!!!!!!

usually it is from floating your valves do to over reving the motor and your valve springs are to week or a timing problem. As far as running the valves I would go have them checked for being true or you could cause seriouse damage to your head if their is not already damage.

I had a ported head with shim unders and 109 cams on it. The top of the piston is scrapped where the intakes are. I must have screwed the timing when I messed with it last. The line on the exhaust cam sprocket was exact, but the one on the intake side was up about 2 teeth I am guessing. I don't understand why it would have been off. I was very cautious of that when I installed last time |

Ok here is where we stand. Thanks to Eric, and a quick simple test we were able to determine that one valve is bent. So yes, that is a bummer. However, I did manage to find a builder close by that can swap the valves for me. I have some extra in another head that I just happen to have sitting around. This is why I horde every part I can get my hands on. So it is now looking like what was close to a huge bum out, is now just a little hurdle. I should still be all back together and on the road early Friday morning. Thanks for the imput....

Brenton, if the builder cannot get them done, let me know. I can bring the valve press and we can do it there.

I would check the specs on your came chain tentioner and make sure it is all rite just in case I doubt it is the culprit but their is always a possability.
