Default question about changing water impeller

SO I get to change out the impeller (getting milky oil). But I had someone put a small weld on my shifting level cause it had alot of play. Question is, can I still change out the impeller with only taking the water pump cover off and not the adjacent cover that covers the shifter?

I have a link and the docs from the F650 FAQ but wasnt sure if it says I can do it without taking off both covers.

I'm pretty sure you have to take off the entire clutch cover to remove the impeller. Dont forget to change out the seals as well
