Break in question
Just finnishing up the build on my DS. I have put in new piston and sleeve, Cams, Valves and guides and had the head ported. Just wondering what you guys would recommend for breaking in.
I had figured on doing 3 or 4 heat cycles and than putting some easy rides on it before I let her rip. What is your opinion??? |
Break in question
if you do a search a guy did a long thread on this about 4 years ago, it is different and has a lot of info in it, but basically it said to break them in hard, but had a lot of info on why. it had a lot to do with ring break in.

Break in question
Bill - I have not tested EGT's on the dual exhaust.......when using this break-in method
LOL, just keeping it on topic! |
Break in question
I have always thought that by the traditional method of P&P that the most gain was to be realized at the exhaust side, but didn't know why untill i read the articles. Its also interesting to note that there was no loss on the bottom end with the reduction by 35% on the intake, Wonder how the fuel map would be effected? Is anyone actually doing the volumeritic=flow P&P?

Break in question
Well thanks everybody for the input. I got the DS all broke in this weekend. I am very impressed with the powergains from the build.
Now I have a new problem. the clutch is slipping in higher gears under hard accelerations. i guess it is time for a new clutch. |
Break in question
did you take the clutch out while you were rebuilding
|
Break in question
how did you decide to break it in?

They said they inspected the clutch and that it would be fine but I guess they were wrong. I used DSnuts recomendation for break in. Even with the clutch slipping i am very happy with the new found power |
