head gasket's
i was just wondering why since head's and cylinder's have evolved fron iron to alum , why arn't head gasket's aluminum? the problem's with steel gasket's are that they expand and contract at a differn't rate than the alum that surround's it. ? i fab them now and again . especialy when testing part's, but havn't done long term testing anyone know any pro's or con's

The melting point of aluminum is 1200 Deg. F.
Copper is 1900 Deg. F. Steel is 2500 Deg. F. The aluminum gasket would not be able to hold a good torque of head bolts. The metal would continue to crush with heat and the head bolts would loose their torque. |

thank's omr , i never thought the alum would give and lose torq, but i knew there had to be a reason they wern't being used. thank's again for getting back with me
