Slow Ds650
My Ds650 has a brand new dynatek non programmable ignition cdi, 15t front sprocket, k&n air filter and pre-filter, and a pro-circuit slip-on pipe. I recently drag raced a stock kfx 400 and got smoked even after switching riders. It runs fine and has a brand new clutch so I dont know why im going so slow. Someone please help me.

Best performance increase I ever had was putting on a TM45 carb!!
Make sure you by one with a squirter and a larger intake to the cylinder, run it with a K/N filter with dust cover direct hook up. Not sure what your new clutch is but I ran a stock clutch with Ron Wood heavy springs as well.
The increase is dramatic low end all the way up. How far does your ignition let you rev up to? Just wanna make sure there is no rev limit at all if there is go to a Ron Wood/Graydon etc. I tried a programable set up once and went backwards. Wood's box just plain deletes the rev limit nothing fancy.
I'm sure you know how to shift your bike but if you not leaving in 2nd gear and speed shifting (without da clutch) this will make a huge difference. When ever I raced on sand dirt or ice the other guy thought that reving to the moon and dumping it in 1st was fastNot so leaving in 2nd feather the clutch to keep the RPM's up there getting a feeling where the hp/torque starts to drop (your have a "tach" right?) then speed shifting "WITHOUT CLUTCH" reduces the slip betwwen gears make a huge difference.
When I raced my Busa DS or the 760 the other guy's would allways rev up shoot sand 1/4 mile and buy the time theye got going, I was half way up the hill with a big smile and they wondered how I left so fast. The guy who leaves first wins usually-

Some decent advice there ...
Curious though as to what you mean by going backwards with the programable ignition ?
Oh, & while it may work for a while, shifting like that will get you familiar with the shift forks sooner than you may like - they are allready the weakest item in the Ds platform.

Yes the the shift forks are a week link (I never broke one) but I guess I was refering to trail riden quad raced off and on. Full on abuse would need some upgrading. It takes some practice if you feel the bike jerk between shifts your doing it wrong, it should be smooth as silk with no noise from hurting parts.
The other thing would be what tire rear tire size? The 20" tire is to small for gearing down the front to a 15 tooth, we alway ran 22" rear / 23" fronts.

I run 23inch rear tires and i bought an OEM clutch. It turns out my clutch is slipping. i was using the wrong oil and now im gonna try putting synthetic oil in it now and sand blast the clutch plates. ive been told that works like magic. and the rev box lets me rev 8900 which is 1000 more than stock

I put one of those in my bike and loved it. Your friction material is probably already saturated with the bad oil so you may need to put a new clutch in any way.
