650 ds stuck in second gear
 
was out hotdoging on trailes at the dunes, alot of second to third and back to second shifting, had to make a quick downshift and stop to avoid another quad,now my 04 DS 650 will not shift out of second gear, any one have any help, THANK YOU

Welcome to the forum. Wish I could help, my Arctic Cat is a manual shift, but it always shifts up or down. I try to use my brakes to stop, though. If it's in 4wd, try 2wd, that's all I've got.

I can't say for sure....I haven't been in a manual clutch trans in years...I think I might recommend you purchasing a manual and having a look or a read....but if your not very mechanically inclined, then talk to or take it to a reputable ATV repair shop. Good luck and keep us posted and I hope it's something fairly simple. :)

sorry to hear, it was mostly the older DS's that had transmission problems, you will most likely split the cases and look for the damage,just a guess I would say shift forks, do a search on this forum, Im sure there is information on this.

Yup I say as well its time to dig into the tranny. Sounds like shift forks. Common problem in the DS's. I have done the shift forks in both of my DS's. It a big job but not really that hard.
