Bone head question. What is the tread width outside-outside max. I looked and found 46.5 inches on the CanAm site but that just doesn't make sense to me. I have 2 Polaris here and one measures 48.5 and the other is 50 inches. Gona buy a Outlander 650 and am upgrading a trailer for rough country hauling of a quad so keeping it as narrow as I can and the quads have to run in between the trailer tires. If any one has the answer and that would be with factory stock tires.m The front of the quad is the measurement That is critical. Thanks...Jim

 

The quad is indeed just over 46 inches wide. If it has the additional mud skirting it would add another 2 inches or so. Previously had a 650 XTP with the mud skirts. If you start at the front of the quad, and look at the front outer fender from front to back, and it is smooth with nothing added onto it, you've got one without the mud skirt.

 

Thanks for the reply Moose. I was just a little concerned that the tires might be a little wider. On a 2007 Polaris I have here the Maxxis Bighorns on the rear are 50 inches outside outside. That trailer will have about 52 inches fender to fender so I think I will be alright. If I get anything bigger there will be tire marks on the fenders. Ha-ha!!

 

I'd measure the actual track width anyway, bring a tape measure with you. Sometimes the width of the plastic is wider than the track width. I don't think I could fit a new Polaris in my shed. The door is exactly 4 ft wide. The King Quad is a little wider than either the previous Brute Force or Grizzly I had. I many times catch the rear plastic when backing out. It does have some give to it so it doesn't seem to really hurt it but I'd hate to do it to a new atv. Its already scuffed and scratched being 10 years old so I'm not really worried about it. I actually considered getting a used Outlander 650 at my local dealer but when it was available, I wasn't ready to trade.

 

I had a 2006 Polaris Sportsman X2 500. When I went up a size to ITP XTR's I was pushing 50" wide. Were a couple gates that would rub the tires a bit. Stock it was 48"
