Listen everybody! I have a suggestion. I typed a small letter to the DCNR and I am sending it in with the forms they recently sent me/us. I simply stated my displeasure in the new law, the cost of insurance-vs- the lack of riding opportunities etc... I know a lot of people probably think it will do no good, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna look back at this some day and say all I did was bitch and complain and not even try to do anything about it. Of course I did my best to keep it on a professional level, but my last sentance wrote was "I can only hope that the new law will be revised to meet more needs than just those of the environmentalist". I have been riding ATC's, ATV's, and dirtbikes for the last 18 years and If the new law isn't revised ASAP we will all be looking for a new sport to enjoy SOONER or later. Thanks

The only way they should be able to stuff insurance and licensing down your throats is if you get something in return, like being able to ride on state and county roads. What is the point of licensing and mandatory insurance other than harassment? ATV's should have the same status as street legal dirt bikes anyway. So if you have license and insurance, ride 'em anywhere you want! Near as I can tell that strip of asphalt is an existing trail isn't it?? Ride on.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/img]

Basically what they have done is made it mandatory for us to have license Plates so they can more easily identify us to slap us with one of the fines that have doubled under the new law. I guess the insurance is to cover any damage done if we wreck when were on our getaway run[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]! It is pretty much CRAP.

I am sure you will see the benefits this money is providing everyday. PA will probably give the money right back to atvers through new trails. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.....Not a chance! More money simply disappearing from the taxpayers pocket.

Well I live very close to the alleghany national forrest were most of the big trails are in pa hence marienville timberline etc and all i have to say is screw them all this will do is increase the amount of illegal rideing in this area cause im not paying them and if you read the law its all against atv's and not dirt bikes i have been thinking about buying a bike anyway

If you do not want to registration your ATV move to Va. Oh one problem!!! No place to ride. You people in Pa whine about no place to ride. I feel soooo bad you have to drive to ride. I drive 3-5 hours.

How many of you are members of an active club? I live in Va. and my ATVs are BOTH registered in Pa & Maine you will never here me complain about paying to ride.

There are new trails coming also, it takes time. Hatfield-McCoy trail took ten years of planning before the first new trail was made.

Also if you ride on private land you do not need ins. and they give you private land use tags for free. So if you do not ride on the Pa trails you pay NOTHING. If you DO what the heck are you bitching about?

Paying to ride is not an issue with me. The problem is you pay for 10 state trails that combine for 188 miles. I do the math and that is like 18.8 miles per trail. That is less than adequate for those of us who have to drive 2-4 hours to get to one. PA has about 50? counties? Atleast? Somebody tell me if I'm atleast close. 10 trails?[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif[/img] The other thing is that the fines have doubled and even tripled. They have every intention of getting rich first from the new registration/ insurance and than from the increase in fines. Seeing as to how they are making us more easily identifiable and all. Believe you me, they will have to catch my little 250 first, but still it is the point. They have all kinds of stuff open to the snowmobiles which go 100+ mph and they wont open it to us. Why? They used to always use the insurance thing, but now we need that so open up the snowmobile trails to us too. The private property thing sounds good, but who really has a few 100 acres just sitting there to ride on?
