I own both machines, the ds650 and a 440ex with extended aarms/axle/shocks... I rode the ds for the first 2 years and raced it in a few races. ALot of my riding is in a sand pit made of tight trails and some nasty whoops. The ds's susspension is awesome for one thing. Probably almost as good as my PEP shocks for the 440. If i had to choose one tho it'd be the 440ex. Its ligther and much easyer to throw around (less fatigue), and much easyer to go faster for longer on. Trust me, i spent about a year in the BOMBADIER forum posting up and down how much i loved the ds, and it took one hell of a machine to change my mind about it. Now that i have the 440ex i think i'm glad i made the decision. But 1 thing will always be the same, a ds with a pipe/silencer will always be faster then the fastest xc 400, 416, 440ex! Our ds only has endcap/rev box/filter and it will probably beat my 440 in a drag race. Drags dont mean a thing to me just some usefull information. HOpe it helps

Well with my ds, we basicly had all the problems you hear about other then the axel barrings comming loose. WE bought 2 new fans (warrenty) and all that jaz. I cant say i havnt had my trouble with the 440 tho, i blew a head gasket my 4th ride! (My fault).

MasterOfDesaster-
that 250r isnt "good" at somethings, its GREAT at everything!
