My clutches are slipping and my bike is not even a year old maybe 50 hours on it. I'm using Mobile oil, Not senthetic, just Mobile oil. Is this a good oil? Is their a better oil that I should be using? Are my clutches ruined? Do i need stiffer clutch springs? Any Advise would be much appreciated.

Are you using mobil 1 for autos? If so, this could be causing your clutch to slip. I would use any of the good rated oils for 4 stroke motorcycle engines. I am running castrol gtx 10w-40 in mine. Amsoil makes a good synthetic as well as redline and there are many others. Some synthetic and regular car oils have friction reducers/modifiers added which can cause clutch slippage. Mobil 1 makes a cycle synthetic oil I beleive. You might try changing you oil to one of these other oils and try it out. I am just making assumptions though. I hope you get your problem worked out.

Thanks, I appreciate the advise, I think I will try what your running if it has worked well for you. I am 265lb. and I find that my clutches start to slip in the upper gears after a couple of drags at Little Sahara in OK.. Especially if I try to take off in second gear. Thanks again.

Hey Biggerisbetter, oil isn't your problem, its your clutch springs. I bought HD clutch springs from Ron Woods and ended up throwing them away, now I have Team-Pami HD clutch springs and have not been able to slip the clutch yet and I'm running AMSOIL 10w-40 synthetic. For 50 bucks all your problems go away.

Some time after adding my RW St.1,i changed my oil to mobil.clutch slipped.Went to gtx.Clutch slipped. Now thinking it was my springs i changed them to RW hd springs and went to Redline synthetic, which is used by Ron woods. No problems since. Was the problem springs or oil.You decide.I'm guessing the oil.

Thanks guys, I'm definantly going to change oil, just because know I have this thing against Mobile, My bike's been slipping with it, so its gone! But I think regardless I should beef-up my clutch springs.I didn't know it was that cheap to do so. I am one of those fifty bucks at a time biulders. That way I can stay underneath my wife's radar! Hey, dsStage 1 did you get them from Knutz? Or somwhere else?
