I still can't get up these hills in third gear! It is a lot better since I added the 45mm carb and the Extreme haulers but I still can get up in third. I have the 15t sprocket in front with the 40 in the rear with the 20"x10x10's. It just looses power in third hauls ass in second though! I am thinking about a 41 tooth in back but I don't know if that will make any difference. I would like some of your ideas on how I can correct this problem that is making me ANGRY! Thanks!

On flats, do you fell like you still have as much power in third as you do in the other gears? I wonder about the clutch slipping under a good load and maybe you might need to work jetting. Were you on I-80 last night around 8:30-9:00 between Evanston and Echo UT? I saw a guy with a Baja on a trailer headed towards Evanston, thought maybe it was you.

Throw a 14 tooth front sprocket on there and it should make a big difference. I also (as demon said) would check your jetting and make sure the clutch is not sliping under a load. I can climb sand mountain UT in 3rd with just a slip on and a K&N with the 14 tooth. This weekend should be interesting as I have taken out the spark arrester removed the airbox lid added a RW CDI and a jet kit and cut my plastic. Just to keep up with Demon and he will still smoke me I think.

#1. Jetting seems to be spot on.
#2. Clutch isn't slipping, if it were slipping the RPM's would raise. They don't.
#3. I weigh 275 lbs.
My weight would be the key issue here I would think and so will you guy's but it would seem that it isn't that much of a factor, after all. I let my friend Neil ride it he is practically the same size as me, about 6'5" but he weighs 240 lbs. He probably got about 4 quad lengths further than I did in third. Then I let another friend of mine ride it who weighs about 140 lbs. and he made it over Choke Cherry in third but barely, he was at about 4500 rpm he told me when he crested the hill. He shifted down a little late from fourth to third at 6700 rpm. Now I don't know how much you guy's weigh in at, but I know I should be able to get up that hill in third gear somehow. I thought about it for a while and I think going down to a 41 tooth might not be enough. So I was thinking maybe a 42 tooth should cover it. I don't want to go down to a 14 tooth because I like my chain the way it is, I mean I don't want to be replacing it from over excessive wear. Plus every tooth you go up or down in the front sprocket is like going 2.79 teeth in the rear. I don't think that the .79 means much but I don't care for points much. LOL. So what do you think the 41 or 42? I think the stock chain would work fine with the 41 but could I still use it with the 42? Can I cut a link pin and add a master to compensate? Help! Allright, you got me on that one. So, what is your opinion? 41 or 42? With the 20" Extreme's.

The 42 tooth sounds like the way to go.I dont think one tooth is going to cut it!
