Help Bike doesn't start??????
I had the problem about five or six months ago, but had that fixed (it needed valve adjustment). The dealer said the vavles were almost out (smallest shims), after that, he said that i would have to get a whole new head. Is that true??? Now i'am have the same problem it had five months ago. I have to pull start it, it would start, but wouldn't start after i shut it off, but it well start if it is warm enough. Help me out I miss riding it.

Take off the airfilter or airfilter hose, put your hand over the carb and try starting it. It worked for me.

I too am at the smallest shim size on my intake valves (2.00mm shims) I would think that new valves would be the fix for this. Not an all new head. What about it guys. Im OK at that shim size so far. But will I be looking at a valve job or new head and valves when the time comes.
CrazyDemon, when you do get it running do you have a power loss. Im guessing you do. Your valve or valve are not closing all the way. Hence the hard starting. Also when it does run your running in a decopression mode. (Valves not closing). You must have more than one valve not closing all the way or it would start much easier. It's perty simple to check the valve clearances. You should do that and at least eliminate that possibility. |

Eaglecollector,
A valve job will do it. It can easily be remedied by adjusting stem length at that time. |

If I was to reseat the heads, would that help?????? I don't think the air filter would be the problem or the battery. The last time I got the valve adjusted they said the intake side (both sides) were to tight??????

Yes, if you put new valve seats in the head it would give you more adjustment on the valves. But that is not cheap. Check your valve clearance first, it's easy. If the valves are too tight and you are at the smallest shim then the head will have to come off, at that point a machine shop can inspect the valves and seats and determine if seat replacement make sense, if they are in good shape they can trim the valve stem height and get you the clearance you need for much less money. If you don't have a shop manual, now would be a good time.

Does anyone have an Shop maunal, That shows how to adjust the valves. I've hear that there is two possible top dead centers on a DS 650???????? Also I have another problem with my breather hose.... Oil comes out of it, it gets all over my valve cover........ what would cause that to happen????Text |
