UNIFILTER oiling question..
#1
I just bought a UNIFILTER for my quad and was going to oil it. I read the instructions and nowhere does it say to oil both parts(i.e., the yellow foam part w/ the mesh and the red foam sleve that goes over it). So whats the proper way. THANKS RICH

i made the mistake to roll the foam in oil (like the instructions said) bad! oil dripped oozed for days. the best way is to take a plastic bag put a small amount of oil in it and drop the filter into it, roll it around till lightly coated and remove. no mess no fuss

Remove the spring prior to oiling, oil it, and then squeeze and ring it. Oil should be soaked through so its all oiled for maximum protection, its the oil that catches the fine dust, the foam just holds the oil. Let it sit on the bench over night standing on end for any little excess to drip off. Blot it with a rag, install spring, put her on bike.

I'm not sure if they all have it, but every Uni I've had for my bikes have a big spring inside the filter to hold its shape and keep it from collapsing, and you can just reach inside the filter and pull it out so you can ring and squeeze it easier. I also pull the spring out when I wash the filter.
